Precursor to Major Writing Assignment 1
For this
assignment, I will have to conduct an interview, similar to a history project I
did in high school. However, the high school project included an interview of
someone alive during World War 2 with an attached worksheet, while this project
will be a paper on the nature of writing in one of my fields of study, music
and journalism. In addition, I will have to analyze several sources and
synthesize those opinions with my own to create a cohesive argument, not unlike
papers I completed in eighth and eleventh grades. New to me on this project will
be the use of APA format for a thesis-argument paper as well as the combination
of an interview and analyzed sources and synthesis all in one essay.
Questions for Professor Paudel:
1) Because I have two major fields of study, should I conduct interviews in both areas and decide which one to pursue for this essay from there or should I instead try to synthesize the two fields together?
2) What are some helpful strategies to taking notes before, during, and after the interview?
3) About how long should the sources of academic and non-academic writing be?
